Helping an infant deal with a heart problem

PALS – what it is

PALS or Pediatric Advanced Life Support program was formulated by the combined effort of the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) to train individuals on how to handle children with cardiac problems during a situation of emergency. For people who work with children, it is a very important qualification as special training is required to deal with children and infants with heart problems.

What it consists of

The PALS teaches the students about how to recognize the type of problem occurred and how to react to it. It is a comprehensive study on how to help children in trouble in the safest and most efficient manner. There is a lot of difference in a grown up heart patient and a child patient. Adults with such complicacies have an idea about their condition and may take some steps to tell someone that they need help. However, children generally are not aware of their health problems and get frightened that worsens the condition.

Who should attend PALS classes in San Francisco

The PALS classes in San Francisco must be attended by the professional health care employees who deal with such children. It is also recommended for those who have heart patients or elders at home. These programs make the students capable of helping someone in a critical condition and save his life. Parents of infants with cardiac issues must enroll themselves for these courses.

After attending a PALS course, the students will be provided a certificate confirming that the person concerned is capable of helping a child or an infant in an emergency health condition and should be allowed to do so. These courses are delivered in institutions as well as online. Another important thing is to refresh your certification as these courses undergo several modifications and upgrading.
